Suikerbossie | Nic & Janine
Nic & Janine’s Suikerbossie Wedding
Nic & Janine’s had their wedding at Suikerbossie in Houtbay, you would think November would be nice weather wise BUT unfortunately on that particular day was one of the worst storms of 2013.
Rain isn’t too bad if its light but on this day it was pouring, roads had been closed due to landslides, there was mud streams running across the roads. Now you would think on a day like this that the bride would be in an absolute panic but when I got to Janine’s place she was sitting there as calm as can be with a huge smile on her face because all that mattered to her was the fact that she was marrying her “soulmate”. Sometimes I think so many couples miss the point about what getting married and having a wedding is all about, well if you were at Nic and Janine’s wedding then you would know that the whole day should be about you spending the rest of your life with the person you love and also sharing this important day with people who make a difference in your life.
The ceremony had to moved inside the reception hall and I thought maybe after the ceremony the rain would’ve died down a little but it seemed to get worse. We decided to go down to the harbour as there were a few places where we could shoot under a little roof but even this wasn’t that great, the sky was so dark and gloomy and what was left of the light was disappearing fast. I had already decided before we left that the couple shoot would need to be shot again on a good day and on the beach like they wanted to originally, the two of them both agreed.
We decided on a date for the reshoot and the bridal party joined us as well. Although it wasn’t raining it was super windy but I can live with that.
Nic & Janine, thanks for being so calm and understanding. Keep on being the amazing couple that you are 🙂
Thanks to Kathleen Chen for assisting me on the day.
